As cybersecurity continues to evolve, so does the need to educate, inspire and empower the next generation of professionals. Over the past month, Neurosoft actively participated in a series of initiatives, from schools and universities to community programs, highlighting the importance of early engagement, mentorship and inclusivity in cybersecurity.

Bridging Education and Industry: Early Exposure Matters

Initiatives like Careers Month at St. Catherine’s British School provide students with a unique opportunity to connect with professionals and explore real-world career paths. Neurosoft experts shared their cybersecurity, technology and HR expertise, providing first-hand insights and engaging students in discussions about the career opportunities and challenges of the industry.

Moments like these highlight the impact that active collaboration between schools and the business community can have in mentoring, inspiring and preparing the next generation for the future.

Cybersecurity in Higher Education: Understanding the Future Landscape

The Cybersecurity Club of the University of Macedonia recently hosted its 1st Student Conference, “Cybersecurity: Current Developments and Future Assessments”. The event brought together cybersecurity experts from the public and private sectors to discuss, in person with the students, developments in Greece and Europe, as well as the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence on the threat landscape.

As Neurosoft’s CEO, Nodas Paschalidis, noted during his presentation:

• AI is not just another tool. It is reshaping the cybersecurity battlefield. Today, AI acts both as an offensive capability for attackers and a powerful defense mechanism for security teams.
• This is why the next generation of cybersecurity experts will play a critical role in shaping a safer digital society.
• This transformation raises an important question: Where does human responsibility begin and end?
• Responsibility starts with design. Humans create, train and define the boundaries of AI systems. It continues with use. Organizations decide how and where AI is applied. And even as AI systems operate with increasing autonomy, accountability remains human and shared among developers, organizations, operators and regulators.
• AI may act autonomously, but responsibility remains human.

In this rapidly changing landscape, future cybersecurity professionals will play a pivotal role in safeguarding digital society.

Building an Inclusive Cybersecurity Community

A strong cybersecurity ecosystem cannot exist without diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity.

Today:

• Women make up just 22% of the global cybersecurity workforce, and 16% of security teams have no women at all.
• Women in cybersecurity earn 16–22% less than men; globally they made an average of $5,400 less than male peers in 2023, and in the U.S. the gap is nearly $7,000.

Despite these challenges, progress is being made. Women already hold:

• 16% of CISO roles, with projections rising to 30% by 2025

The Women4Cyber Foundation, established by the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) and Guardtime, works to build a more gender-inclusive cybersecurity community across Europe. Through national and regional chapters — including Greece — the initiative raises awareness about the gender gap while inspiring the next generation through training and mentorship programs.

We’re proud that Neurosoft’s Head of Cybersecurity Advisory Services, Nikos Astyfidis, is certified for his contribution as a mentor to the “Women4Cyber Greece Mentorship Programme”. Notably, he mentioned, “Building a stronger cybersecurity community starts with gender inclusivity, knowledge sharing, mentorship and supporting the next generation of professionals, especially women entering the field.”
