Microsoft renames Azure Active Directory to Entra ID
All Microsoft products and experiences are expected to be renamed in the second half of 2023 as part of a gradual rollout. However, users will still be able to use the service without interruption. The functionality of all current installations, configurations, integrations, capabilities and features will not change.
What is the main goal of this rebranding? According to Microsoft, Azure Active Directory is being rebranded as Microsoft Entra ID to simplify secure access for everyone. Using Microsoft Entra ID has a number of benefits, the three most important of which are the following:
- A common platform: A unified platform for managing users, devices, and applications that lowers the risk of security breaches and makes it simpler for enterprises to maintain their IAM infrastructure.
- A wide range of features: Restricted access, multi-factor authentication, and single sign-on are only a few of them. Organizations can use these features to safeguard their users’ and their data’s security.
- A flexible deployment approach that allows for on-premises, cloud, or hybrid deployments. Organizations now have the freedom to use the solution that best suits their requirements.
Hackcraft’s detailed cloud assessments for Active Directory are performed as an external user, a guest, and an internal user to help any organization assess its security posture. Cloud security assessments help organizations discover vulnerabilities, assess risks and implement effective security measures, thereby protecting their valuable data while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. By conducting such checks, businesses can take advantage of all the possibilities offered by the cloud (scalability, flexibility), while prioritizing security.
